Angola Cables presents a lecture on "Surviving cyber-attacks in Angola - An urgent decision”

Angola Cables will present on Tuesday 19 of this month, starting at 10am, the international lecture on "Surviving a cyber-attacks in Angola - An urgent decision," at the FILDA auditorium in Luanda.

According to the organization’s note, which cited a study by Cloudflare DDoS report of 2022, data security is currently one of the main threats worldwide, with Angola being the second country with the most cyber attacks in Africa, generating negative impacts of around US$2 billion for SMEs and the corporate segment.

The event will be attended by international cybersecurity specialist Yara Lacerda, who will present solutions developed to combat cyber attacks effectively and in real time.

Taking into account the vulnerability to which several institutions are subject, Angola Cables is presenting the Shields2Africa solution, against DDoS (distributed denial of service attack) cyber attacks, which works as a distributed shield, with automatisms capable of detecting, reporting and mitigating in real time cyber attacks on a global scale, supported by artificial intelligence (AI) as close as possible to the source of the attack.

For Ângelo Gama, CEO of Angola Cables, FILDA is a good opportunity to bring a Cloudflare specialist in cybersecurity to Angola, given that, as a partner of the company he heads, Cloudflare is one of the world's largest data security companies. However, the event, at FILDA, will be the important space to address a relevant problem faced daily by companies in Africa, especially in Angola, regarding cyber attacks and data protection.

"Angola and Africa are experiencing a significant increase in DDoS attacks, increasingly volumetric and sophisticated in the Financial, Government, Multimedia, Oil & Gas and e-commerce sectors. As the cyber-attack scenario evolves, companies need to protect their networks and services proactively and automatically, and for this they can count on the support of Angola Cables' Shields2Africa, developed with the partnership of the multinational Cloudflare, a leading expert in data security and cyber-attacks," argued the manager.

With the launch of this new security solution, Angola Cables strengthens its commitment to protect Angolan companies from cyber attacks that could impact their businesses, Ângelo Gama concluded.

The event has already confirmed the participation of companies from the institutional, financial, banking, telecommunications and SME management segments.

Yara Lacerda has 12 years of experience in Technology in fortune 500 companies such as Cloudflare, Apple, Box, Disney and Dell. She works with Cloudflare software and products for Mid-Market and Enterprise customers.
